Machine Purpose ? What is Recycled?
This system separates solder from oxidized dross.
Dross is generated as waste during typical wave-soldering process.
Dross is composed of oxidized solder component elements and flux wash-off residue.
These materials are usually returned to the solder manufacturer or metal waste recycler for reprocessing.
Useful solder is caught up in the dross, like water in a sponge.
The recycling system reclaims 50-70% of the solder caught.
Thus significantly reducing the amount of solder disposed of as industrial waste.
Different solder alloys contain different combinations of metal elements.
The most common metals used in lead (Pb)-free solder are Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu),
Silver (Ag), and sometimes Zinc (Zn), Antimony (Sb), Bismuth (Bi). Some of these metals are precious,
or are toxic when disposed of improperly.
By recycling these materials at the point of use,
the user can reduce the environmental impact.
They can also save reprocessing and disposal costs,
since usable solder is often sent to waste reprocessing along with the dross.
Highly effective with lead-free solder which in some cases
produces as much as 1.8 times more semi-metallic materials than tin/lead solder.
Semi-metallics are solder component materials that have come out of suspension and/or have been oxidized.
These materials contain some usable solder that can be recovered.
Sometimes referred to as “plastic state materials”.
